Flooring range
Hybrid / SPC
Hybrid and SPC floors put a rigid stone-composite core under a vinyl wear layer. The result is more dimensionally stable than standard vinyl in a sunny room and more water tolerant than laminate, which is why it suits New Zealand living areas so well.

Where it works best
Best suited to
- Sunny open-plan rooms
- Kitchens and dining
- Family homes with pets
- Light commercial
Not on the list? That does not rule it out. Tell us the room and we will tell you honestly whether this is the right product for it.
Why people choose it
Stable in heat
The rigid core moves far less in a room that gets strong afternoon sun.
Water tolerant
The core does not swell the way a timber-based core does.
Tough surface
Stands up to pets, kids and dragged furniture better than most floating floors.
Hides minor subfloor faults
The rigid board bridges small imperfections a thin vinyl would show.
Worth knowing first
The trade-offs, said plainly.
Every floor has something it is not good at. You should hear that before you buy, not after.
- Harder and slightly louder underfoot than a flexible vinyl, so acoustic underlay matters.
- Heavier boards, which can affect install time on a large job.
- Quality varies widely. Core density and wear layer are the two numbers to compare.
Looking after it
Keeping it looking new.
Most flooring problems are maintenance problems. These three habits cover the majority of them.
- 1Sweep or vacuum, then damp mop as needed.
- 2Use felt pads and wide castors under heavy furniture.
- 3No steam mops or abrasive cleaners.
