Frequently asked questions
The questions we get most often.
If yours is not here, call or send us a message. We would rather answer it before you commit than after.
Quotes and pricing
Is the measure and quote really free?
Yes. We come to you, measure the areas properly and give you a written quote. There is no charge and no obligation to go ahead.
How long does a quote take?
We aim to get back to you within one business day of your enquiry to book a time, and you will usually have the written quote within a couple of days of the visit.
What affects the price of a flooring job?
The product itself, the area to be covered, how much preparation the subfloor needs, removal and disposal of the old floor, and any trims, stairs or transitions. The quote breaks these out so you can see what is driving the number.
Do you charge to remove the old flooring?
Removal and disposal are quoted as a separate line so you can see the cost. If you would rather lift the old floor yourself to save on the job, that is fine, just tell us at the quote stage.
The mobile showroom
What is the mobile showroom?
It is our van fitted out with samples across the full range. Instead of driving to a showroom, we bring the samples to your place so you can see colour and grain in your own light, next to your own walls and furniture.
Does it cost anything to have the showroom visit?
No. The visit is part of the free measure and quote.
How long does a visit take?
Usually around 45 minutes to an hour for a typical home, depending on how many rooms are involved and how many options you want to compare.
Installation
How long will the installation take?
Most homes are done in one to three days once the product is on site. Larger jobs and heavy subfloor preparation take longer, and we give you an expected duration with the quote.
Do I need to move the furniture?
Talk to us at the quote stage. We can allow for moving furniture in the quote, or you can clear the rooms yourself if you would rather keep the cost down.
Can I stay in the house while the work happens?
In most cases yes. We work room by room where we can. Some adhesives need time to cure, so we will tell you which rooms to stay out of and for how long.
What happens if the subfloor is not level?
We check it at the measure. If it needs levelling we include that in the quote rather than discovering it on the day, because a floating floor over an uneven subfloor will not last.
Working with us
Which areas do you cover?
Whangārei and the surrounding suburbs, wider Northland, and Auckland. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and ask.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry public liability cover and stand behind our workmanship. Ask and we will send the details with your quote.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Offices, retail, hospitality and healthcare. We can stage work after hours where a business cannot close.
What if something is not right after the job?
Tell us. Call or email and we will come and look at it. Manufacturer warranties cover the product, and we cover our own workmanship.
